Beautiful Bodies ≠ Skinny Bodies

I was browsing through my usual sites today, and I reached a link that gave me another link where I found this:
Seriously?
Basically, this article asks if certain celebrities look better skinny or skinnier. And I found that really amazing (in a bad way).

I know most people have hang-ups about their weight. It seems normal, I guess, because of the changes of society's standards. But honestly, I think it's about time to accept that people have different body types and not everybody should be the cookie-cutter skinny models we usually see on the runways and red carpets.

I mean, personally, I have felt the desire to be thinner. But my body is not meant to be a size sub-zero. I enjoy eating, and I have curves. I'm not overweight, but I sure am not skinny. Kate Moss once famously said, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels," to which I reply: "Excuse me, have you ever had lasagna/pizza/fried chicken/leche flan???"

Now, I realize that not everyone has the same problem I do. I know some people who, no matter how much they eat and though they do not exercise at all, they cannot gain weight. Others diet for weeks without shedding a single pound. Our bodies are not created equally and that's just the way it is.

But I do want to say, to the people who are supposed to be our "role models" and "idols", there is a huuuuge difference between healthy skinny and scary skinny. Embracing your natural body types, curvy or not, shouldn't mean that you are "chubs", as long as a healthy diet and proper exercise are involved.

For example, who on earth would really prefer these:
Candice Swanepoel (center)'s pelvis does not look appealing

Neither do Rachel Zoe's collarbones
Filippa Hamilton was photoshopped, so much so that her head is bigger than her pelvis
Isabelle Caro, a French fashion model, anorexic since 13. She died last year.
On the other side of the spectrum are:
Blake Lively: healthy skinny
I think Christina Hendricks is a goddess among women
I'm not a big fan of Kim Kardashian but I'm glad she's proud of her "kurves" (sorry, couldn't resist)
Kate Upton is a popular bikini model with some meat on her bones, and she looks good

I mean, women who look like women (and not skeletons) should be the norm. If someone can look at you and accurately visualize your skeleton because of your protruding bones, then something's not right. I personally think that it's fine to have a little tummy pooch or some cellulite. I won't actively encourage myself to look like the Michelin man, but I don't want to turn into Jack Skellington either.

I guess my whole point is you shouldn't need to starve yourself in order to think you look good. As long as you're living healthily and getting enough exercise, why not enjoy the body you were born with?
